I'm very sad to hear that. I took all kinds of issues with his opinions, but doing so was always entertaining, and he gave as good as he got. I hope he had dear people around him.

(Thanks to Gene for alerting me to this.)

Too bad. The world needs people who do not suffer fools gladly.
Not that long ago we discussed the prevalence of lesbians in the
Santa Cruz mountains.

Will there be a memorial, perhaps at the White Cockade?

At least this will put to rest the notion that Julian is Geoff's
sockpuppet.

He hates me 'cause I never slept with him...
He hates himself because he is all he has to sleep with
I don't know, sometimes he used to seem normal, then he went petty
trough vindictive and now I just shun contact. I have enough crazies
to deal with in my world without encouraging those who refuse to take
their meds.
For the record, I never once even considered sleeping with you. And
you know that. You're the one who somehow got the idea that I was
going to move in with you - and you posted that to RFC just out of the
total blue.

After having met you twice at casual austin.food gatherings 2 or 3
years ago and not giving you any indication that there was any sort of
romantic interest in the least, you somehow twisted that into MY
MOVING IN WITH YOU?

That was just way too Psycho for me. I sat there at stared at the
screen for at least 15 minutes wondering, WTF? That was just way too
spooky. I've met weird, semi-psycho women before but you win, hands
down. Mapi of austin.general still holds the male title, but at least
he announced his psychosis right there lying on the floor of the bar
at B.D. Reilly's rather than romantically obsessing over me for 2
years.

Needless to say, you need to come to terms with what happened and why
your mind works that way and stop making up excuses for your fixation
and disappointment before we become the next Yoli and Michael. I'd
prefer you use a sniper rifle on me from a few hundred yards away.
There you go - a reason for you to buy yet another gun and ammo.

And Jeremy, I was just tired of your decade of bullshit and visions of
grandeur about all these things you're "working on" or have not done
in the past. Even posting a call for meetings with imaginary people
about imaginary projects of yours at "the normal time and place", as
if you are somebody important with a life. I'm pretty sure you're
manic depressive mixed with habitual liar.

Sorry I don't fit either of your Ideal Psycho Pal Profiles.

something absolutely compltely WRONG, (in other words, the next time you

Ownership delinieates WHO owns the property. If the government owns it,
it is public property. If a private party owns it, it is private
property. Now, private property may have public access which would be
the case with a restaurant or a store or a gas station, for example, but
it is still private property, not public property.

change ownership to the government.

<nonsense>

So when the business is closed at night, and it is NOT open to
public access, does it then become private property again until
they next open? Hmmm?

You have confused public property with public access, AKA being
"Open to the Public". It's only open when it's open, and if you
go in after they are closed you are breaking the law. It is
property which the owner opens to the public for a SPECIFIC
purpose. You are expected to buy food in a restaurant, you can't
just go in there and use their space for whatever you want. So
it's not public, it's just opened to the public for a certain
purpose during certain hours.

Here's how you can END this argument now

I guarantee if you just say "open to the public" no one will
argue with you about it.

You're welcome.

No. Those are the facts.

Here they are again. And-- once again-- you will shriek your denial
with absolutely NO facts.

Because you're too stupid to understand what private property is.
Amazing.

Private property is a legal designation of the ownership of property
by non-governmental legal entities. Private property is
distinguishable from public property, which is owned by a state entity

taxpayers), private property is owned by private individuals or
corporations. Public access can apply to either one of them. A court
house, for example, in the case of public property or a restaurant, for
example in the case of private property. You keep confusing the terms.

NO, the term's are confusing YOU. Public access is just a translation of
public property, one that Steve invented when he realized he was going to
lose the argument.

But what he DIDN'T realize was, I was too smart to fall for his tricks, so
now that everybody knows thier the same, by ADMITTING that taco bell is
"PUBLIC ACCESS" he has LOST the argument officially.

I believe there was a time when "Jerry Sauk" was actually posting,
talking about his throwing burger wrappers in the back of his car, his
struggles to find a job, his opinions on fast food in the Green Bay
area.

Eventually some other "Jerry Sauks" appeared. Some consistently
replaced "the" with "the," put comma's where they don't belong, like in
this example, and removed punctutation and added punctuation in an
obvously satirical way.

The [SIC] Jerry Sauk Story got uninteresting several year's [SIC] ago.

The public v. private v. public access etc. issue is kind of
interesting, but not at the banal level we see here.

My guess is that the actual, real Jerry Sauk, if ever actually existed,
is long gone. Perhaps dead. Certainly not driving through
drive-throughs serving only real meat ("real meat does not contain
bones. this is a law") and complaining about living in the basement.

The various Jerry Sauk's [SIC} are just half-assed playing. Most fail
to understand the Fu of Jerry.

He was still somewhat active (probably the most active person, in fact) in
the mostly dormant ba.mountain-folk newsgroup.

His last post in that newsgroup occurred on 1/27/15 in the "Lesbians in
Scott Valley" thread. It was a short reply thanking me about a small tidbit
of information I supplied about how Chinese parents name their children.
Talk about thread drift. That small discussion came about after discussing
Calvin and Hobbes in the same "Lesbians in Scott Valley" thread.

He never once noted (or even hinted about) being serious ill. He seemed to
be in good spirits in most of his posts in that newsgroup.

(Don't know why he dropped off from ba.food, though.)

He atended an annual party that he always did at my place in January. A couple weeks before that party, I had gone househunting with him the Brentwood area. He did not know at that point that the cancer was serious or terminal.

I don't know if Julian was referring to me, but I did go to see him at a friend's place in the Santa Cruz mountains in mid April. The cancer was attacking his body, but not his mind. He was lucid and as entertaining as ever.

be in good spirits in most of his posts in that newsgroup.
A friend saw him at a meeting in January this year. He
was obviously very ill, but didn't want to talk about it.
He attended an annual party that he always did at my place in January. A couple weeks before that party, I had gone househunting with him the Brentwood area. He did not know at that point that the cancer was serious or terminal.
What type of cancer did he succumb to?

I realize this is neither here nor there any more, but it raises a question:
I like the ag nature of Brentwood, and the surrealistic giant wind turbines
you see along the road from 580. But why would anybody who worked in the
Valley live there?

A couple of mutual friends had dinner with him in early
March.
I don't know if Julian was referring to me, but I did go to see him at a friend's place in the Santa Cruz mountains in mid April. The cancer was attacking his body, but not his mind. He was lucid and as entertaining as ever.
He was a good friend and is really going to be missed.
As a Usenet persona, he was always refreshingly acerbic.

No mention of his passing on the internet, other than here on Usenet.

He had been living in Boulder Creek. Both were a haul to the Milpitas/San Jose border where he was working. He wanted a suburban place, and could afford a place in Brentwood with a garage and back yard. It was also close to the delta, where he liked to go boating.

I know about 10 people who make that daily commute for similar reasons.

I agree with what some others have said. I'm sorry to hear about
Geoff. (He never took me up on the beer I offered him during an
argument.) How old was he?

Based upon info he related in his posts I'd guess about 55ish.

I'm not sure, I'm guessing mid fifties.

Thanks for this news, though bad. I sparred with Geoff many times, but
never actually met him.

He was more witty than most of us. Julian thanks for forwarding
the sad news. I never met him either.

I think you may have. Once there was a meeting of Scruz
locals in a pub. You, Vinnie, Lenore, Glen, Geoff and many others
were there.

In person, Geoff tended to be very shy and retiring.

I recall two such gatherings, one at the Front Street Pub. now long
gone, where I met you just long long enough for a wave .

At the second such gathering, at the Boulder Creek Brewing Company, he
was not there.

At the the hot tub party at my place, circa 1998, he was not there.

So, I say I never met him in person.

Front Street had the bitterest beer I've ever had. Made Anchor Steam
taste like Pellegrino water.

BCBC burned up like a overinsured restaurant a couple months ago.

Luckily Santa Cruz County microbreweries are springing up like mushrooms
after the rain. And Seabright is still around from the first wave.
